A life of purpose is not a 100 metre sprint, it’s a marathon!
There are three major differences between those two – pace, goals and celebration.
In a 100 metre race, it’s not about pace – it’s just flat-out from the start! The only goal is the finish line. The celebration is only at the conclusion.
But for a marathoner, pace is important – there are times of fast and times of slower. A good racer adjusts to both.
Goals for a marathoner are signposts along the way that measure his or her progress and are points for celebration (or stirring up!)
Can you adjust your pace to the race you’re running? Have you got goals that help you measure your progress and are points of celebration?
A last word – Hebrews 12:1 “let us run with endurance the race that is set before us” (NKJV)
We’re in it for the long haul!
