Perhaps one of the most misunderstood things in the Church today is the spirit of excellence!
Look at this scripture:
1 Kings 10:4-5
And when the queen of Sheba had seen all the wisdom of Solomon, the house that he had built,
the food on his table, the seating of his servants, the service of his waiters and their apparel, his cupbearers, and his entryway by which he went up to the house of the LORD, there was no more spirit in her. (NKJV)
Wow! What an impact! Who wouldn’t love their ministry, their church to have that sort of reputation and impact in their community?
Here’s the deal – Solomon was doing all this long before the Queen of Sheba showed up!
It’s not excellence if we only act excellently because someone’s coming to visit!
A true spirit of excellence simply demonstrates the way we live all the time.
Here’s the other thing – it wasn’t just about his house but also about his worship.
It was the same at the dinner table as it was in his devotions!
What you saw in the carpark was what you saw in the sanctuary!
It all starts somewhere – living a life of excellence is the same as living a life of purpose – you have to start now.
