Lean not on your own understanding

Proverbs 3:5  “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.   Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil.”

Verse 5 tells us to lean not on our own understanding, but trust in God. Often we approach decisions armed with the knowledge of experience, our own or someone else’s and a firm opinion of what would be a wise or sensible choice. God wants us to ask Him for wisdom, (James 1:5) and explains to us that His ways and thoughts are different to ours. (Isaiah 55: 8) We are also reminded that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Wisdom STARTS when we value God’s opinion more than anyone else’s, and that includes our own.

To live in God’s wisdom means asking God that He will lead us and guide us and not being sure we already know what’s best.

Let’s be believing for:

God’s wisdom in our lives as we live each day and face decisions and choices, ask His Holy Spirit to show us the path that causes us to depart from evil.
